THE STORY BEHIND THE BOOK
A question that
became a lifelong thread.
Janet’s interest in people and leadership began as a teenager, reading the management studies notes her mother brought home. In her early Human Resources work, she became interested in why equally capable people could experience very different career paths.
Her career took her through Hong Kong and Singapore, helping people prepare for opportunities and navigate redundancy and change. She later established NoLimits with her husband.
When the 2008 financial crisis disrupted their business, the family faced a decision about what came next. A move to Bali became part of Janet’s own exploration of the question at the heart of this book: “Who do I want to be?”
During nine years in Bali, she began recording the stories and insights that emerged from coaching sessions and workshops. From that work she developed PIPc: Purpose, Identity and Passion with Compassion.
The Hamster Who Danced with the Giant brings those reflections together with practical ways for readers to explore their own answers.
